Our privacy commitment to you

Covance Worldwide ("Covance/we/us/our") respects the privacy of visitors to this website, and we have developed this Website Privacy Policy ("the Policy") which sets out how we collect information about you from which you may be identified ("Personal Information"), what we use it for and how we safeguard and secure it. This Policy applies only to the operation of websites that directly link to this Policy when you click on "privacy statement" in this website footer and may also apply where specifically referenced as it relates to adding or modifying your Personal Information in our volunteer database.

Please note that you will not be able to submit your Personal Information to us until you have scrolled down to the bottom of this Policy and ticked the box to confirm you have read it and agree to its terms and a separate box to confirm that you are over 18 years of age.

Collecting Your Information

Covance will use its website to collect information that is voluntarily submitted by you and which can be used by us to identify and contact you, including but not limited to your name, address, date of birth, contact telephone number and e-mail address.  We will also request additional Personal Information relating to your height and weight and health history, as well as data which is recognised as being sensitive, such as your ethnicity.  This information is necessary for us to identify whether you are potentially suitable to be invited to participate in clinical trials as outlined under the heading 'Use of Your Information' below.

How we will use your Personal Information

We will add your Personal Information as volunteered by you via this website, on to our volunteer database, and use it to identify and notify you of clinical trials and services which may be suitable for you to be invited to participate in.  Information submitted by you via this website will create an email that is provided to us which will be deleted once you have been contacted or once the information has been added to the volunteer database.

Please note that the submission of your Personal Information via this website or the addition of your Personal Information to the volunteer database does not mean that you will be invited or selected to take part in any clinical trial either now or in the future.  In the event that it is established that you may be suitable for a particular clinical trial you may be invited to be screened to take part.  The screening process, which is outside the scope of this Policy, is generally done face-to-face and will require you to supply additional Personal Information to us, including further sensitive personal data, and to undergo certain medical tests.  You will be required to enter into a separate privacy agreement in advance of undertaking the screening process relating to the use of Personal Information you volunteer at that stage.

Please be aware that by submitting your Personal Information via this website, you consent to a member of our team contacting you directly by way of following-up with you, including contacting you directly by telephone or other means, and adding your Personal Information to our volunteer database.

We may also use your Personal Information to respond to subsequent requests you may make of us, and from time to time, we may refer to your Personal Information to better understand your needs and how we can improve our websites, products and services.

We may enhance or merge your Personal Information with data obtained from third parties for the same purposes. Any other information transferred by you in connection with your visit to this website which cannot be used to identify you (and which, therefore, does not constitute your Personal Information) may be included in databases owned and maintained by Covance or its agents worldwide.

Worldwide Transfer of your Personal Information

By ticking the box below in consent to the provisions of this Policy you recognise that we may transfer your Personal Information worldwide.  If you are inputting your Personal Information in the European Economic Area ("EEA") you expressly consent to the transfer of it outside the EEA. Covance retains all rights to its worldwide databases and the information contained in them.  Please be aware that whilst we do all that we can to safeguard the security of your Personal Information, the transmission of information over the Internet is not completely secure and therefore you do this at your own risk. Once we receive your Personal Information we will implement strict security procedures with the objective of preventing unauthorised access.

These agents, contractors or partners are restricted from using this information in any way other than to provide services for Covance, or services for the collaboration in which they and Covance are engaged. We may, for example, provide your information to agents, contractors or partners for hosting our databases, for data processing services, or so that they can mail you information that you requested.

Covance reserves the right to share Personal Information in response to duly authorized information requests of governmental authorities or where required by law. Cookies

To learn more about cookies and how to delete or disable them on your system, please refer to the following website: http://www.aboutcookies.org.  Please note: some functionality may not be available for this website if cookies are disabled.

We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP Address and other information gathered through our weblogs and cookies (see below) such as web log information. The webserver automatically recognizes some non-personal purely statistical information about your browsing actions, such as the date and time you visited our site, the pages you visited, the website you came from, the type of browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer or Netscape), the type of operating system you are using (e.g. Windows XP) and the domain name and address of your Internet service provider (e.g. MSN).

Consequently, we may obtain information about your general Internet usage by using technology called a "cookie". IP Addresses

This website uses Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses. An IP Address is a number assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider so you can access the Internet. Generally, an IP address changes each time you connect to the Internet (it is a "dynamic" address). Note, however, that if you have a broadband connection, depending on your individual circumstance, it is possible that your IP Address that we collect, or even perhaps a cookie we use, may contain information that could be deemed identifiable. This is because with some broadband connections your IP Address doesn't change (it is "static") and could be associated with your personal computer. We use your IP address to report aggregate information on use and to help improve the website.
